About The Manns....
Mann's Quarter Horses is the Home of AQHA Champions, Superiors AQHA and State High Points and All-Arounds
Mann's Quarter Horses is located in the heart of the Willamette Valley in Scio (Home of Linn County's Historic Covered Bridge Country), Oregon - 30 miles southeast of Salem (Oregon's capitol) - 15 miles east of Albany from Interstate 5. The ranch sets on 350 acres located 2 miles south of Scio on Highway 226. The barn has an indoor arena, 22 stalls, guest living quarters and collection lab.
Established in 1965 crossing Poco Bueno mares (performance) on Quincy Dan and Showdown Joe (halter). In 1971, we purchased
Bally Hobo, a yearling stallion by
Bally Beers AA - Race Register Of Merit. With Bally Hobo, we were able to combine Performance, Halter and Speed into quality offspring. Bally Hobo as a junior horse was campaigned to the prestigious title of AQHA Champion. We purchased Bally's Pride, a full sister to Hobo and took her 1 step further to the title of AAA AQHA Champion. We crossed Bally Hobo to PopiLisa, the resulting foal was Bally Sagebrush, a potential race horse. But Sage as it turned out, did not like that profession and was sold. Sage later became the 1978 AJQHA High Point Youth All-Around Champion along with 642 points that year!
Mike, Gail and their family have bred, raised and campaigned numerous Quarter Horses resulting with many AAA - AA Register Of Merit Race Horses, numerous AQHA and AJQHA Champions, Superior Halter, Superior Performance, Register Of Merit Halter and Arena Performance, World Championship Show Top Ten Awards and in 1996 Fluent Mannerism by Bally Hobo was the AQHA High Point Amateur Halter Mare In The NATION!
After searching for 3 years for a future replacement for Hobo, we purchased Secure Future, a N/N yearling stallion by 2 time World Champion Sonny's Securitee and and out of the Great Producing Mare Jordacres Que Te (World Champion Producer) Secure Future's registered foals have amassed over 1605 points, 14 superiors, and 41 register of merit's.
Secure Future was on the AQHA Leading Sire's list from 1999-2005 and Oregon's leading sire list from 1998.
Mike got an AQHA Amateur Card and began competing as an Amateur late in 1994 showing, Fluent Mannerism as his first amateur horse.
Gail who trains and shows in Open Competition, along with instructing Equine Science at Linn-Benton Community College is also a Multiple Carded Judge.
Mike and Gail's Daughter, Shirley specializes in horse knowledge consulting and coaching, public speaking coaching, and riding coaching. She was recognized for her Public Speaking Coaching in 2013 for her coaching of 2013 National Champion Public Presenter, Julia Pearson. She coached the 2012 Reserve National Champion Team Presentation team of Donielle Miller and Julia Pearson, and has coached many top-ten National teams in Hippology and Horse Bowl.
Mike and Gail have been recognized by the AQHA and were presented with the prestigious award of "40 Years of Continuous Breeders of Quarter Horses".
We are blessed with our accomplishments and joys and invite you to visit our other pages of our website. We are no longer campaigning our show horses and are selling most of our horses due to health reasons. If you are interested in adding to your herd, please contact us.
With Warm regards,
